The Pros and Cons of Tungsten Metal
The advantages of tungsten: the melting point is extremely high, the hardness is large, the vapor pressure is low, the evaporation rate is small, and the chemical properties are relatively stable.
The most important advantage of tungsten is that it has good high temperature strength, good corrosion resistance to molten alkali metals and vapors, and oxide volatilization and liquid phase oxides occur only at temperatures above 1000 °C. However, it also has the disadvantage that the plastic-brittle transition temperature is high and it is difficult to plastically process at room temperature.
